The Trump-Putin meeting took place at an airbase in Alaska


U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on Friday (August 15, 2025) at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. The meeting between Trump and Putin at the Elmendorf base lasted for more than three hours.
This was the first time Russian President Vladimir Putin was allowed to set foot on Western soil (in the United States) since ordering the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. It was also the first meeting between the presidents of the two countries after a gap of six years.
